  1. Invision Power Board, phpBB, and vBulletin are the best ones in my opinion.
  2. It depends very much upon your budget, and what you need to have hosted. For example, will you just upload static web pages? Will you need support for dynamic technologies like MySQL, Postgres, ASP, PHP, Perl, or Python? Will you need some kind of Content Management system, like Drupal, Joomla, or Groupware? * 1&1 is solid and highly respected, but they can be expensive and only allow so much customization. * HostGator is the least expensive provider with the best ratings and flexibility, but you can't host a site with extreme traffic or one that eats their server resources, they may just delete your account. * Slicehost gives the most raw power for the most reasonable cost; you get a virtual co-located server at nearly as low as shared hosting costs. Then of course you have to know how to run a server all by your lonesome. Best of luck, doll! ^_^
  3. I've been extremely pleased with my hosting company: http://www.bluehost.com They have great live support (the few times that I've needed it) and their speed and uptime are both great. They have dozens of packages available for blogs, forums, ecommerce, etc. I'm currently hosting four separate domains on my account. Costs range from $9.95 per month on a monthly basis down to $6.95 per month on a prepaid 2-year package. (They do offer a full prorated refund in case you decide to change hosts during that period.)
  4. try ferno hosting http://fernohosting.net only $1/month, plenty of features, and the ability to add more space/bandwith if you really need it in the future
  5. Unfortunately when you are unexperienced you will have to suffer a bit but if you get into the wrong company you can usually get your money back within a month. I tried most of them and the best one is IX, for a number of reasons. They start at $5 a month so long as you pay for a year, but I went for the $8 as it's the best value for money. http://webhosting.moneysavecenter.com/IX-WEB-HOSTING.html
