How does the amount of bandwidth and disk space affect the performance of a website?

I am a newbie looking for a web host and one particular web host offers unlimited bandwidth and disk space and another offers about a 100 GB of each. Which is the better option and why? I will be running an ecommerce website and Flash will be incorporated within the website as well.

1. well bandwidth is the amount of data transfer your site is allowed per month, so basically it's the amount of times your site can be accessed. Disk space is the memory you're alloted on the server for your website. Most hosting companies that offer unlimited anything aren't exactly unlimited. There's always a catch. 100gb will be plenty for you just starting out. In fact, I'd be surprised if you ever used up either.

They are the limits as to what your host will allow you to consume, but the speed of your site is affected by other things like the server speed and the controls put on your website from the server side.
